Prosecutors will seek the indictment today of Enrique Jaén Cherigo, who is alleged to have been driving the car that struck and killed Mónica Licona on Avenida Balboa on Sept. 20.

A judicial source confirmed that Jaén Cherigo must explain how the event occurred and why he hid from police for six days.

Jaén Cherigo was arrested by police during a raid of a home in Las Perlas, Santiago. He was hidden in an attic. Police said they will pay the $20,000 reward that was offered for information leading to his arrest.

The suspect will also undergo a physical and psychiatric exam at the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.

He faces charges of aggravated manslaughter since he fled from the scene. The car involved in the accident was found a few blocks from the scene.

Police sources reported that in 2007 Jaén Cherigo was investigated for his alleged relationship with a gang in Santa Ana.
