Temas:

Former Minister of Public Works Jaime Ford appeared before the first anti-corruption prosecutor with his lawyer this morning to answer questions about cost overruns in the National Assistance Program (PAN).

Ford is being investigated for his involvement as a member of the PAN Executive Board during the administration of Ricardo Martinelli (2009-2014). The investigation is focused on possible cost overruns in the purchase of grains.

"As a responsible Panamanian who has always complied with the law, I am here to answer questions about this situation," said Ford before entering the prosecutor's office on Vía España. "I come from a family that has devoted many years of their lives providing their services to the nation, and I always have complied with all laws."

Also facing charges are former ministers Lucy Molinar (Education,) Guillermo Ferrufino (Social Development) and Roberto Henriquez (Presidency.)

Henriquez has been barred from leaving the country.
