GUPC still not offering explanation for lock leak

The project is due to be finished in April.

Temas:

The consortium GUPC still has not delivered a report to the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) about the leaks in the new locks it is building as part of the expansion of the waterway.

The consortium did provide a preliminary report about the leaks on Sept. 25, but the ACP has demanded a more comprehensive explanation of the problem and the proposed plan to address it.

In a statement released today, GUPC reported that the construction of the third set of locks is 95 percent complete. However it did not release any information about the leak, which was detected in the locks on the Pacific side.

It did say that testing of the locks would continue for the next three months.
