Guardia Jaén testifies in purchase of Christmas bags

One of those charged is former First Lady  Marta Linares de Martinelli.


The first anti-corruption prosecutor today questioned former National Assistance Program (PAN) Director Rafael Guardia Jaén in the case of Christmas bags provided to the Office of the First Lady during the last administration.

The Prosecutor's Office seeks to determine if there was a misappropriation of funds in the purchase of the bags.

According to Prosecutor Tania Sterling, the case revolves around a $5 million contract signed in 2013 by Guardia Jaén, a detainees at El Rencer Prison, to purchas the bags which were distributed by former First Lady Marta Linares de Martinelli in all the provinces and regions of the country.

Her immunity has been suspended in this case.
