Fepafut reveals soccer player tested positive for drugs at Pan-Am Games

The athlete has been suspended pending an investigation.

His name has not been released.


The Panamanian Soccer Federation has reported that a member of its under-22 team that participated in the Pan-Am Games in Toronto in July has tested positive for a banned substance.

In a statement, the federation said that it received the notification from FIFA. The athlete, who has been suspended, has been notified of the result.

So far the federation has not revealed the name of the player nor the substance that was detected.

Another sample is being analyzed to confirm the result. 

Panama's team finished fourth at the games, losing the bronze medal game to Brazil.
