Alma Cortés, the minister of Labor in the Ricardo Martinelli government (2009-2014), has indicated that some 11 bank accounts have been frozen as part of the investigation into unjustified enrichment charges.

Cortés confirmed the information Monday as she entered the offices of the Sixth Anti-Corruption Prosecutor for questioning.

The amount accumulated in the accounts is more than $100,000, according to the former minister, who added that some of the funds belong to partners at the law firm Cortés, Molino & Asociados.

She is being investigated after an audit by the Comptroller General found that her assets increased by $2.5 million while in office.

The report said that Corées was linked to companies that obtained contracts from the program "Mi Primer Empleo," which was run by her ministry.
