Arrest made in twitter threats

The threats were made against the family of President Juan Carlos Varela.

A 24-year-old man was apprehended by the Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office for sending threatening messages via Twitter to First Lady Lorena Castillo de Varela. 

According to prosecutors, sending such messages is a violation of the penal code.

The threats came from the twitter account @abrahamvergara2. The first lady reported the threats on April 17, and said they were made against her son, Gian Varela. 

Through her twitter account, Castillo de Varela asked the National Police and the Public Ministry to investigate this threat, which she received through the social network.

Security Minister Alexis Betancourt filed the complaint. 

The identity of the suspect was not released. He was arrested in El Crisol, San Miguelito.
