A man was killed and six people have been injured in encounters with Africanized bees over the last 72 hours in Los Santos.

Los Santos police confirmed the death of a 71-year-old citizen in Llano Largo. The victim, identified as Juan Carvajal, was found dead by his brother.

It is the first case of a death by Africanized bees in Los Santos so far in 2017.

A bee attack was also reported in La Pacheca. In that area six people were stung, including one victim who was stung 54 times.

The last time a death was reported from a bee sting in Los Santos was 2008, when there were three deaths.

Reports from the local fire brigades indicate that they receive several reports weekly of bee attacks.

Africanized bees, also called killer bees, are known for their aggressive attitude toward people.
